U.K. Pop Sensation!!!

David's wikipedia site |
As
the former frontman of
Easyworld, a
British indie rock outfit that disbanded in 2004,
David Ford
established a reputation as a talented singer, songwriter, guitarist,
and pianist. He then parlayed those skills into a solo career, releasing
the debut album I Sincerely Apologise for All the Trouble I've Caused in
2005. After gaining an audience in his native England,
Ford traveled to
Texas to play at the 2006 SXSW festival, where a particularly strong
performance led him to a deal with Columbia Records. The label reissued
his solo record in America, and
Ford returned to
Europe to support
Suzanne Vega on
her U.K. tour. Songs for the Road arrived in 2007, with a stateside
release following in early 2008 on Original Sire Recordings. ~

MacLellan (Snowbird, Put Your Hand In The Hand)
It is
Catherine MacLellan's voice that strikes you first.
Pure and haunting, it caresses softly, insinuating itself into your
heart, and just won't let go. Then, the subtle strengths of her deeply
confessional, powerfully poetic songs emerge, revealing hidden layers
with every listen. It is this combination that makes Church Bell Blues,
MacLellan's sophomore album, a bona fide roots music gem. The disc was
released independently on the East Coast last year, but Catherine's
recent signing to True North Records will bring it much wider exposure.
"It's great that this one is being given more life," says the P.E.I.-raised,
now Halifax-based songstress. "I really respect Bernie [Finkelstein] and
all the artists he's signed, so I feel very lucky." |

Country Music Hall of Fame inductees & multi-Juno award
winning The Good Brothers!
Formed in Richmond
Hill, Toronto, in 1969, this trio of
brothers, including twins Brian Good and
Bruce Good, performed in and around
Toronto. They received their first big
break in 1970 when they backed James
Ackroyd on his album

The album, which was released on
Columbia and aided by members of the
Grateful Dead, catapulted the group into
the Canadian country music spotlight.
The Festival Express tour had the group
touring with Janis Joplin, the Band, Ten
Years After, and the Grateful Dead. They
also performed with Gordon Lightfoot and
John Hammond. In 1976, the Good Brothers
released their self-titled debut album,
which was a mix of their traditional
roots, folk, and country background with
a range of rock blended in. The album
earned them a Juno Award for Best

each year from 1976 to 1983. They also
received a gold record for sales of

of Canada's Blackie & The Rodeo Kings
It has been 20 years since
songsmith Stephen Fearing released his self-titled debut. Over
the following two decades, he has built up a very loyal and committed
international audience, one sure to be delighted by his beautiful new
recording. Yellowjacket is Fearing’s eighth solo album and as
always it features a potent combination of powerful and affecting
lyrics, pure vocals and masterful musicianship. Yellowjacket also marks
something of a breakthrough in Stephen’s approach to recording as he
assumes the mantle of producer for the first time since his early
albums. The result is a relaxed fluency vocal and guitar work and a
unique sonic palette, which make this album distinctly different, again,
from his previous releases. |
